Ragdoll Colors
Ragdolls are born all white. Some color starts to show within the first week or two. Ragdolls reach their full color between two to three years of age. Ragdolls come in the following colors: Seal point, Blue point, Flame point, Cream point, Tortie point, Chocolate point and Lilac point. At this time, we are not breeding for chocolate or lilac, so we will not have those colors shown here. All Ragdolls pictured on this page belong to us or were bred by us.
Ragdoll Babies Are Born All White
The Sealpoint Ragdoll
Seal is a black pigment and can show on the Ragdoll as anything from a soft carmel brown to a rich deep black color.

Seal Lynx Bicolor
The Bluepoint Ragdoll
The bluepoint Ragdoll is a gray color and can be a light gray to a deep dark gray color. Blue is a recessive to the seal coloring. Two blue Ragdolls can not make seal kittens, but two seal parents can have blue kittens if both parents carry blue. Seal cannot be carried, but always shows.

The flame Or Cream Ragdoll
Flame is red and Cream is the recessive of Flame. The reds take a long time to get their full color and it can take a lot longer to know the pattern of the flame or cream kitten. Sometimes they leave to their new homes before we know if a flame or cream kitten has mitts or not.
Red females are more rare then red males. To have red female kittens, you need a red daddy and a red or tortbie/tortie mom. For this reason, we do not have many red female kittens!
I always wanted a red boy, so the flame and cream Ragdolls hold a special place in my heart, even though I love all the different colors and patters. You could say I'm a Raggie addict! Ha!

The Tortie and Torbie Female Ragdoll
Torties can be seal/flame or blue/cream. Red is a sex linked gene. Only females can be tortie or torbie, except in extremely rare occasions. You can read up on how the red gene works here http://rfwclub.org/Gred.htm
A torbie Ragdoll is simply a tortie with the lynx markings (tabby striping). Tortie + Lynx = Torbie.
Torties and Torbies are so much fun! It takes a long time for the red or cream to come in, so they are a constant surprise as their color slowly comes in. You never know where that red will show. It's like watching a flower bloom little by little.

The Patterns!
Ragdoll come in these patterns: Bicolor, Mitted and Colorpoint. They also come with the lynx pattern, which can overlap any of the other patterns. Lynx is a fancy term for tabby striping.
The Bicolor Ragdoll
The Bicolor Ragdoll has an inverted V of white over the face. Chin, legs and tummy are also white.
The Mitted Ragdoll
The mitted Ragdoll has little white mittens on the front paws and long white socks on the back legs. The mitted Ragdoll should have a white chin and a white tummy as well. Sometimes mitted Ragdolls have a blaze of white or even a striking double blaze on the nose or forehead. The mitts can be harder to see on a cream Ragdoll.
The Colorpoint Ragdoll
All Ragdolls are color pointed cats, but when we are talking about the particular pattern as colorpoint, we mean that they have color on their paws that match their point color. A seal colorpoint, or sealpoint will have dark seal paws that match the point color of their ears. The colorpoint Ragdoll has no white. Of course there will be lighter shading around the body and bib, but it is not actually "white". Ears, tail, feet and mask will be dark and the nose leather will be dark like the point color.
The Lynx Ragdoll
The lynx pattern is a tabby striping. It goes over any existing pattern. You may have a lynxpoint, a lynx mitted or a lynx bicolor Ragdoll. When a tortie has lynx striping, she is then called a torbie.
The lynx mitted or lynx colorpoint Ragdoll may have a salmon colored nose that is outlined in a darker color. This look is preferred for the lynx mitted or lynx colorpiont. The lynx bicolor Ragdoll should have a pink nose and it should NOT be outlined.
Lynx can not be carried, but always shows. If a kitten is lynx marked, one of its parents MUST be lynx as well!
Age Progression
Here are some photos of Ragdolls from kitten to young adult. This will give you an idea of how the coloring changes from kittenhood on. You will notice how the colorpoint and mitteds will often have dark coloring on the nose that spreads out over the face as the kitten ages from babyhood to adulthood. Lynx markings begin to darken with age. The reds come in slowly. The tortie/torbie takes time for the red to completely show. The tortie/torbie will have a beautiful patchwork of colors on the back.
